Facilities - Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

State-of-the-art equipment for ceramic powder synthesis, characterization and processing, ranging from laboratory to pilot scale capacities, exist in a number of laboratories within the CCR. These facilities are all expected to be used in the seamless, synergistic and cooperative research collaboration to be developed in the proposed program

Powder Synthesis and Characterization: Hydrothermal and plasma synthesis of nanocrystalline ceramics, aqueous powder processing, spray pyrolysis and spary dying, powder comminution and size classification, blending, and mixing processes are routinely employed in ceramic processing research in our laboratories. Extensive powder characterization tools such as particle size distribution, surface area, electrophoretic mobility and zeta potential, suspension rheology, gas pycnometric desnity, high pressure mercury porosimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, and atomic force microscopy are integral components in our processing research.
